Dr Natalie Khin Carter

Clinical Psychologist.

Natalie is registered to practice as a clinical psychologist and a member of the NZ College of Clinical Psychologists (NZCCP).  She provides psychological therapy for individuals in both adult and adolescent age groups.  Her therapeutic model is predominantly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), although she frequently uses other evidence-based models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Natalie provides therapy sessions by Zoom as well as in person appointments for individuals. Natalie’s areas of interest and experience are: 

  • Anxiety, panic, and obsessions and compulsions 

  • Worry 

  • Depression 

  • Bereavement and grief 

  • Adjustment issues and life transitions

  • Personal Development 

  • Work stress

  • Self esteem

She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Auckland and went on to complete a Masters in Psychology and PhD in Psychiatry.   She then completed a Diploma in Clinical Psychology at Massey University in Auckland.  Before moving to private practice Natalie worked as a Clinical Psychologist in Community Mental Health Services providing assessment and treatment for adults.

Prior to training as a clinical psychologist, Natalie worked as a researcher at the University of Auckland in the Department of Psychiatry and Health Sciences.  She was involved in a number of research initiatives including project coordinator roles for the Depression, Anxiety & Neurosis Group for the Cochrane Collaboration, for the New Zealand Survey of Mental Health & Wellbeing Pilot Study, and for the Werry Centre for child & adolescent mental health workforce development.

Natalie works on a Monday at Pollen Street Practice.
