Lynley Stenhouse

Clinical Psychologist.

Lynley is registered to practice as a clinical psychologist and is a member of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists. She has a strong background in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with professional training from the Beck Institute in Philadelphia and the Newcastle Cognitive Therapy Centre in England.  Lynley specialises in working with adults who experience a wide range of life issues and has worked in private practice since 1997.

Lynley’s areas of interest and experience are in working with: 

  • Depression

  • Anxiety 

  • Bereavement and grief 

  • Panic 

  • Worry

  • Self-esteem and self-confidence issues

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Post traumatic stress

  • Stress/work stress

Lynley graduated with a Master of Science and a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology from Otago University in February 1990.  She has worked in both acute inpatient and public mental health outpatient settings in both NZ and the UK (1990 – 1995).  She was a founding member of the specialist Cognitive Therapy Centre at Waitemata District Health Board (1995-2000), before moving to Senior Lecturer in the Post Graduate Diploma for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) at Massey University.  Lynley moved fulltime into private practice in 2005.

Lynley works on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Pollen Street Practice.
